McGeachen’s art exhibited

Rensselaerville artist Barbara McGeachen’s passion is to express nature and moments in time that warm her heart and soul. Her inspiration comes from her love of animals, nature, and capturing moments of emotion and innocence, both real and imagined. A self-taught artist, Barbara has created art from an early age, and for the past seven years she has worked mainly in watercolor.

Twelve of Barbara McGeachen’s watercolor paintings are currently on display in the Hannay Room at the library. Her landscapes feature local sites rendered in the rich colors of autumn.

Barbara’s work has been exhibited at the Community College in Hudson, the Greene County Council of the Arts in Catskill, the Athens Cultural Center in Athens, and the Bethlehem Art Association in Delmar.  She has also exhibited at local businesses and banks.

The show will be at the library during the months of September and October and can be seen during regular library hours. Our thanks to Peter Keitel, former president of the Bethlehem Art Association, for curating the exhibit.

Thursday, Aug. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. meet and chat with textile artist Lila Hollister Smith, whose exquisite art quilts are now on display in the Hannay Room at the Library.

Lila is a self-taught artist, inspired by the juxtaposition of fabric, nature, dreams, and other arts. Most often, she creates wall art or wearable art coats. Her work has been exhibited widely at local quilt shows and her judged entries have won numerous awards including Best Art Quilt and Best of Show.
