Story times are also a great opportunity to meet other parents of small children in Westerlo.

Fourteen of Susan M. Story’s pastel paintings and monotype prints are on display in the Hannay Room of the Westerlo Library during the months of November and December and can be seen during regular library hours.
Susan has been an artist all of her life, growing up in the suburbs of New York City. She attended Parsons School of Design for Fashion Design, working in the industry for a dozen years. She turned to fine art after moving to upstate New York with her family.
“I am drawn to the landscape,” she said. “The image I convey to the viewer is a very personal one. In my paintings, I strive to express the emotions I experience when observing and being present with my subjects in nature.I’m intrigued by complex angled lines, textures, and shapes: the chaos, as well as the order, of nature.”
A designated Master Pastelist of the Pastel Society of America, Susan also serves on its board of governors. She is a juried member of the Salmagundi Club in New York City, as well as the Academic Artists Association, Audubon Artists, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and the Hudson River Valley Art Association.
Our thanks to Peter Keitel, former president of the Bethlehem Art Association, for curating the exhibit.

We have had our first 36-er! — that is, a brave and energetic soul determined to visit all 36 library sites in the Upper Hudson Library System before the end of November.
It can be done! Get started by picking up a map at our Westerlo Library (or any Upper Hudson library) — and you’ve already knocked one off the list. You don’t have to go far to visit five libraries and earn the amazing bumper sticker with the bears in the VW bus.
