Teen gaming

On Nov. 12 come to the library for Drop-in Teen Gaming from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. with snacks and gaming. We'll have games like King of Tokyo, Castle Panic, Sapien, Boss Monster, Forbidden Island, and Evolution. Drop in for a half hour or stay the whole time.  We will meet on Monday's from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This program is for kids 13 and up. Registration is suggested but not required. Tom and Geri play Traditional Folk/Roots music with a focus on Appalachian Celtic and Canadian Traditions with guitar, banjo, fiddle, mountain dulcimer and more.  Joining them will be their son, Carson White, Dave Paton, Tom Wetmore, and Bernie Neuman. A $10 donation is suggested. Tickets are available at the door.

Book discussion

On Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. join us to discuss "The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams.  The Glass Menagerie is a memory play, and its action is drawn from the memories of the narrator, Tom Wingfield. Tom is a character in the play, which is set in St. Louis in 1937. He is an aspiring poet who toils in a shoe warehouse to support his mother, Amanda, and sister, Laura.

On Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. join us for The History of Crazy Quilting and Trunk Show. We will delve into the art of crazy quilting with award winning quilter and author Betty Fikes Pillsbury. Using antique quilts and other textiles, Betty discusses the rage that swept late 1800s America – the crazy quilt. Then, using her work as examples, Betty shows how crazy quilting is alive and well in the world today. Please bring your vintage crazy quilts to share. Registration is required.
