Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, September 27, 2018
Colleen Kattau, a bilingual vocalist, guitarist and composer of songs, will perform on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m., as part of the Middleburgh Library’s Not So Quiet Concert series. No registration is required. Tickets are available at the door; a $10 donation is suggested. Please use back entrance at 323 Main St.
Drop-In Story Time will be held at the Middleburgh Library on Oct. 2 at 10:45 a.m. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children ages up to age 5 and their caregivers.
We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.
Mahjong Mania
On Oct. 2 from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the Middleburgh Library Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.
Insight Meditation
On Oct. 2 at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors so give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.
Healthcare After Retirement
On Oct. 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. join us for Healthcare After Retirement. If you or someone you know is turning 65, getting ready to retire, or may be losing an employer plan, this course will help you discover an understanding of Medicare. From Part A to IRMAA, learn the fundamentals of how each section of Medicare works in this class aimed at making complex information easy-to-understand. Instructor: Michael G. Stanton. Registration required.
Storytime
On Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. join us for Storytime with Miss Doreen. This program is every other Wednesday for some fun and games. There will be a theme every program. Oct. 3’s theme is apple picking time.
HEGS
ON Oct 5 and 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. join us for Home Educators of Schoharie County. They are a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for the sharing of educational opportunities. We hope to increase public awareness, acceptance, and support of home education in Schoharie County. Please check out our facebook page. Or contact Rebecca at for more information. We will meet the first and third Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Concert
On Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. come to the library for a concert by Colleen Kattau. She is a bilingual vocalist, guitarist and composer of songs. Her poetic originals and charismatic stage presence inspire hope and spark imagination and audience participation. A $10 donation is suggested. Tickets are available at the door.
