Attention Middleburgh Library patrons: Would you like to be more involved in your library? Do you have new ideas for programs and services the library can provide the community? Do you have a passion for volunteerism? Do you live in the Middleburgh School District?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, being a member of the Middleburgh Library Board of Trustees is for you!

As of May of this year, the board will have two vacant seats, each with a three-year term. Pick up your petition today and come help us drive the library into the future and beyond.

Drop-in Story time

On April 9, at 10:45 a.m., join us for drop-in story time. This fun and interactive program is meant for children up to age 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome!

We read books, sing songs, play games, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mahjong

On April 9, from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the library’s Community Room, as they do every Tuesday, to play Mahjong.

Don’t know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.

On April 11 at 10:30 a.m. join us for an  Indoor walking workout. During this time of year when the weather is unpredictable, walking outside can be a challenge. Why not walk with us inside the library as we work through Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home workout videos. These “Walking” workouts burn more calories than a stroll around the park because they focus on a series of multi-muscle moves. A higher muscle engagement leads to higher calorie burn and of course more muscle tone all while being easy on the joints! Walking is the most natural and effective way to health and wellness, and works for anyone, any age, any size and anywhere. Classes with be 30 to 40 minutes long with time for cool down and conversation and will be led by our resident yoga instructor Vicki DeGroff. Please wear loose fitting and comfortable clothing. Registration is required.

Book discussion

On April 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. join us for a discussion of  "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller. It is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692 - 93.

On April 12  from 10 to 11 a.m. join us for  Tai Chi and Qigong, from China, the cultivation of human energy Gentle slow movements, strengthen the body and calm the mind. "Was That Bigfoot I Saw?"

On April 12 at 7 p.m. join field researcher, Gary Robusto, head of the New York Bigfoot Society based in Albany. He will be discussing the topics of the possible existence of Bigfoot living in New York. He will go over potential evidence gathered from field cases (even some here in Schoharie County), equipment that is used along with talk about sighting report claims throughout New York. If you have an interest in all things Bigfoot and monsters then this will be the event for you! Registration is suggested. Refreshments will be served.

Volunteer Open House at the Dr. Best House

On April 13 at 1 p.m. come see what it would be like to volunteer at the Dr. Best House? Join us on Saturday for some food and fun and find out how you can get involved! Concert

On April 14 at 7 p.m. come enjoy a concert with us. Nancy Tucker blends outrageous squeaky clean comedy, spirited guitar instrumentals and moving songs of human experience in her shows for people of all ages. Her music and comedy center around a passion for life and laughter. Her guitar instrumentals have been compared to those of Michael Hedges and Leo Kottke, with a flair for unusual and kinetic compositions using every part of the guitar, including a guitar attachment of her own invention. No matter what the venue, Nancy captures each audience's imagination and heart with gentle invitation and contagious lunacy.

Ron Stallworth, an African American police officer from Colorado Springs, CO, successfully manages to infiltrate the local Ku Klux Klan branch with the help of a Jewish surrogate who eventually becomes its leader. HEGS is a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for the sharing of educational opportunities. Homeschool Science Workshop

March 29, at 11 a.m. calling all homeschoolers to join us while we learn about science! We will have stations set up to explore science using Snap Circuits, Little Bits, Cubelets and much more! This is a family-friendly program and we will have a station set up for the little ones too!

Weights for Woman

On March 30 at 1 p.m. Coleen Delorenzo from the Body Fixx will walk us through the importance of weight lifting for women, especially as we age. Registration is required.

Cooking

On March 30 at 2 p.m. join us for Cooking by the Vegan Book. We pick the cookbook, you pick and make the recipe! This month's book is "Oh She Glows Everyday" by Angela Liddon. How the cookbook club works; Every month, a cookbook will be selected and will be at the circulation desk, for you to look at and we will print up the recipe of your choice. Sign up online, call or at the circulation desk, let us know what you're cooking so we don't have duplicates. Registration is required.

Book discussion

On March 19 at 7 p.m. join us for a discussion of "Sick Puppy" by Carl Hiassan. When Palmer Stoat notices the black pickup truck following him on the highway, he fears his precious Range Rover is about to be carjacked. On March 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. come to the  10th Annual Crockpot Cook-off. Participants must sign up at the library by March 8.  3 prizes - Chili, Soup/Stew, or other. Please provide a list of your ingredients, so we can accommodate guests with dietary restrictions. Limited space, so sign up soon.  Guests for a donation of $5 per person, drinks and desserts will be available for $1 each. Sample and vote for your favorites. On Feb. 27 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. come hang out with us at the Teen Depot. We will have crafts, board games, video games, and snacks. Bring your own board games, crafts and Phones, Tablets, Swithes, laptops and any other devices you want. This program will be held every Wednesday from 3:30 4:30 p.m. and is for kids 12 and up.

On Feb. 19. join us to discuss "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant. It is a first-person narrative that tells the story of Dinah, daughter of Jacob and sister of Joseph. She is a minor character in the Bible, but the author has broadened her story.

On Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. come to the library for "Rocking the Blocks LEGO Building Day".  Use your imagination and rock the LEGO blocks and build anything you want. Registration is required.

Movie

On Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m. come and enjoy Dinner & A Movie. The movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" is rated PG-13. This movie is the story of the life Freddie Mercury. The library will provide pizza and drinks and you bring a dessert or snack to share. Registration is required.

On Feb. 12 at 10:45 a.m. join us for this fun and interactive program is meant for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome! We read books, sing songs, play games, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration required.

On Feb. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the library’s Community Room, as they do every Tuesday, to play Mahjong.

Don’t know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.  

Insight Meditation

On Feb. 12, at 5:15 p.m., a meditation group will meet at the library.

What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts.

Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors.

Give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

On Feb. 13 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. come hang out with us at the Teen Depot. We will have crafts, board games, video games, and snacks. Bring your own board games, crafts and Phones, Tablets, Swithes, laptops and any other devices you want. This program will be held every Wednesday for kids 12 and up.  

Registration is not required but appreciated!

On Feb. 13, from 5 to 6 p.m., Yoga Classes with Deb - Restorative - Restorative Yoga:  Relaxation yoga, using props and gravity to do the work. Plus Qigong integrating finish By donation with the  donations going to the library. Please use back entrance as the library is closed that evening.

Moon Walk

On Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m. join us for an  Indoor walking workout. During this time of year when the weather is unpredictable, walking outside can be a challenge. Why not walk with us inside the library as we work through Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home workout videos. These “Walking” workouts burn more calories than a stroll around the park because they focus on a series of multi-muscle moves. A higher muscle engagement leads to higher calorie burn and of course more muscle tone all while being easy on the joints! Walking is the most natural and effective way to health and wellness, and works for anyone, any age, any size and anywhere. Classes with be 30 to 40 minutes long with time for cool down and conversation and will be led by our resident yoga instructor Vicki DeGroff. Please wear loose fitting and comfortable clothing. Registration is required.

HEGS

On Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. come to the library for Home Educators of Schoharie County. HEGS is a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for the sharing of educational opportunities. We hope to increase public awareness, acceptance, and support of home education in Schoharie County.  Please check out our facebook page. Or contact Rebecca at for more information. Cooking

On Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. join us for Cooking by the Vegan Book - "Whole Foods Cookbook.” The Middleburgh Library presents its monthly book club, "Cooking by the Vegan Book." We pick the cookbook, you pick and make the recipe!

How the cookbook club works; Every month, a cookbook will be selected and will be at the circulation desk, for you to look at and we will print up the recipe of your choice. Sign up online, call or at the circulation desk, let us know what you're cooking so we don't have duplicates. Registration is required.

Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen will perform at the Middleburgh Library on Feb. 3 at 4 p.m.

Wednesday Matinee

On Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. the library will show "First Man"  rated PG-13. A Biopic on the life of the legendary American Astronaut Neil Armstrong from 1961-69, on his journey to becoming the first human to walk the moon. Exploring the sacrifices and costs on the Nation and Neil himself, during one of the most dangerous missions in the history of space travel. No registration required. The popcorn is free.

Cindy Mangsen and Steve Gillette have been performing original and tradition music together for 25 years, accompanying themselves with guitars and concertinas.
