Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, October 25, 2018

Tom and Geri White have pulled together family and friends under the band name Wilder Hook, a historic bend in the Schoharie Creek in Middleburgh. They’ll give a folk concert on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. at the Middleburgh Library at 323 Main Street. A $10 donation is suggested.

The Middleburgh Library is hosting a drop-in story time on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mania

On Oct. 30 at  1 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the Middleburgh Library Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.

Insight Meditation

On Oct. 30  at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors so give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Storytime

On Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. join us for  Storytime with Miss Doreen every other Wednesday for some fun and games. There will be a theme every program.

Pumpkins

It’s all about pumpkins on Oct. 31.

Movie

Join us for the Wednesday matinee on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. The library will be showing "A Quiet Place" rated PG-13. In a post-apocalyptic world, a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing.

HEGS

On Nov.2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. join Home Educators of Schoharie County a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for the sharing of educational opportunities.We hope to increase public awareness, acceptance, and support of home education in Schoharie County. Deco Patch

On Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon come and make Deco Patch Christmas Ornaments.  Join us for a fun workshop creating beautiful holiday ornaments. Each attendee will be able to make two ornaments using paper mache' shapes and the beautifully patterned Deco Patch papers. These one of a kind creations can be wonderful additions to your tree or very special gifts.  Registration is required and space is limited. A $5 material fee is payable to the instructor on the day of the program.

Concert

On Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. join us for Wilder Hook with Tom and Geri White.  They have pulled together family and friends under the band name Wilder Hook, a historic bend in the Schoharie Creek in Middleburgh. Tom and Geri play Traditional Folk/Roots music with a focus on Appalachian Celtic and Canadian Traditions with guitar, banjo, fiddle, mountain dulcimer and more.  Joining them will be their son, Carson White, Dave Paton, Tom Wetmore, and Bernie Neuman. A $10 donation is suggested. Tickets are available at the door.
