Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, November 8, 2018

The Middleburgh Library is having its yearly Basket Raffle with 33 baskets to choose from. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will be on Dec. 7 at Miracle on Main Street.

Library closed

The library will be closed on Nove. 12 to observe Veterans Day.

Teen gaming

On Nov. 12 come to the library for Drop-in Teen Gaming from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. with snacks and gaming. We'll have games like King of Tokyo, Castle Panic, Sapien, Boss Monster, Forbidden Island, and Evolution. Drop in for a half hour or stay the whole time.  We will meet on Monday's from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This program is for kids 13 and up. Registration is suggested but not required. Call, stop in or sign up online.

Board meets

The Board of Trustees will meet on Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

Storytime

On Nov. 13, 20 and 27 join us for Drop-In Storytime. Get ready to move in this interactive storytime designed especially for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration required.

Mahjong Mania

On Nov. 13, 20 and 27  at 1 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the Middleburgh Library Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.

Insight Meditation

On Nov. 13, 20, and 27 at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors so give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

More fun

On Nov. 14 and 28 at 11 a.m. join us for Storytime with Miss Doreen for some fun and games. There will be a theme every program.On Nov. 14 the theme is Will I have a friend and Cooking with MIdd Rebecca on the 28th..

Movie

Join us for the Wednesday matinee on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. The library will be showing "The Leisure Seeker" rated R. Documentary

HEGS

On Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. join Home Educators of Schoharie County a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for the sharing of educational opportunities.We hope to increase public awareness, acceptance, and support of home education in Schoharie County. See and discuss

On Nov. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. see and discuss “The American Media” and “The 2nd Assassination of President John F. Kennedy” with Gary Hayes.
