Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, September 6, 2018

The Middleburgh Library Board of Trustees will meet on Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

Storytime

On Sept. 11 at 10:45 a.m. join us for Drop-in Storytime. Get ready to move in this interactive storytime designed especially for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration required.

Mahjong Mania

On Sept 11 from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the Middleburgh Library Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how.  No registration is required.

Insight Meditation

On Sept. 11 at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in day-dreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors so give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.  

Workshop

On Sept. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. come and enjoy Authors Among Us - Ignite Your Imagination - WRITE. This workshop uses lively creative exercises to forge new paths for you to explore on the page. Energize your imagination with new ideas. Who says writing has to be a chore? Come, have fun, and break out.  Note: This program started on 9/8.

This workshop is facilitated by Susannah Risley.  Susannah has a gift for developing a variety of creative approaches to writing. Susannah's writings have been published in several well -known magazines. Registration is required.

Concert

On Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. join us for Sloan Wainwright. Defying standard categorization, singer/songwriter Sloan Wainwright, consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles — pop, folk, jazz and blues — held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid.  

A $10 donation is suggested. Tickets are available at the door. Please use back entrance.
