KNOX — Discussions were heated at a special town board meeting on Sept. 26 as the board attempted to fill out a state-required environmental form for a proposed multi-use recreational district near the intersection of routes 156 and 157.

It was another rainy Tuesday on Sept. 25 when the Old Men of the Mountain traveled to the Duanesburg Diner in Duanesburg.

On Sunday afternoon at Westerlo Town Hall, author Jerry Finin spoke to people about how he came about to write the biography of Dr. Anna Perkins.

Proposed operating procedures would have Gary Salisbury, who is both Knox’s deputy supervisor and highway superintendent, head the transfer station.

Training began for nine members of Helderberg Ambulance to act as “vitalists” and conduct medical exams for homebound patients, who will also be communicating with a physician over a video feed.

BERNE —  Ann (née McCusker) Flaws, who loved being a teacher, died at home on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, with her husband and son by her side, after a six-month struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was 72.

BERNE — Mark W. Huth was dedicated to his family, his church, and his community. He died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, after being injured in an automobile accident. He was 76.

“He was very much a doer,” said his son, Michael Huth. “He had a lot of integrity and cared a lot about others.”

Overproduction of milk and trade deals going sour are part of a myriad of factors making it tough for dairy farmers across the country to turn a profit.

September — and there is a touch of color on the trees, at least in the area the Old Men of the Mountain trod.

The second meet in the inaugural season of the Duanesburg/Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ swim team ended with victory. The team is made up of 12 girls from Duanesburg Central and Berne-Knox-Westerlo.
