RENSSELAERVILLE — The Clarke White Unit 589 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Rensselaerville has earned both State (Department) and National recognition for its efforts with the Finding the New York Faces project.

Richard J. Luniewski, a long-time resident of Gallupville, died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 in Vero Beach, Florida. He was 78.

Carl Charles Leopold Stolzenburg

BERNE — Carl Charles Leopold Stolzenburg, a lifelong dairy farmer, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. He was 85.

The budget for 2019 in Knox is seeing decreased expenditures and a two-percent decrease in taxes.

Clara V. Waldron

SOUTH WESTERLO — Clara V. Waldron lived her entire life in south Westerlo where she was active in the church and famous for baking “Clara’s Rolls.” She died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Albany Medical Center. She was 88.

The proposed Rensselaerville budget for 2019 has an increase of about $33,000 in its general and highway funds. Increases of town workers’ wages drew the ire of some residents, but were defended by town officials as being increases on already low salaries.

After being re-appointed to the town’s water board and again offering a monthly report on Westerlo’s water district, William Bichteman said the district is still financially strapped as more expenses arise.
