On Tuesday, Aug. 14, the Old Men of the Mountain left the comfort of their homes and took off on another wild adventure; this time, it was to the Home Front Café in Altamont.

On Sunday in Rensselaerville, at least 70 bikers took to the hills on a leisurely bike ride through four different distances.

Gerald Cross is being honored by New York State for his service as an emergency medical technician for over 50 years at Helderberg Ambulance.

Locals in and around Rensselaerville have gathered to raise money to help a “warrior princess” fight a brain tumor.

Lyndon ‘Mike’ Leonard

EAST BERNE — Lyndon “Mike” Leonard, a longtime Berne-Knox-Westerlo teacher and well-known archer, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018. He was 70.

He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on Jan. 26, 1948. He graduated from Monadnock High School in Swanzey, New Hampshire in 1966.

A committee of five Westerlo residents helped led the way to put banners in the town to honor the local military heroes.

The Hilltown Seniors met at the Community Senior Center and were pleased to have a guest speaker from Clear Captions who spoke about free phones for seniors with hearing problems.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy is scheduled to be at the Hilltowns Community Center on Saturday, Aug 18, at 10 a.m. The community is invited to participate.

Spencer Sisson

EAST BERNE — Spencer Sisson of East Berne, an outgoing man who owned an insurance company, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018. He was 43.

“Spencer loved spending time with his daughters and cherished every moment with them,” his family wrote in a tribute.

Robert Nakamura

WESTERLO — Robert Nakamura, whose life was rich in adventure, knowledge, and family, died on Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was 73.

“He really did a lot of extraordinary things,” said his son, Jeffrey Nakamura.
