Knox residents should fill out the surveys for an updated comprehensive plan that will shape the future of their town. Once the big picture is in place, zoning must be adopted and enforced.

EAST BERNE — A hardened farm worker in his youth and a dependable mechanic, Willard Dibble was tender with his family ties.

WEST BERNE — Gertrude Perue kept her home neat and her siblings in comfort.

She worked as a hostess at Borelli’s Restaurant in Howes Cave, in Schoharie County, and was a caregiver for many in her family throughout her life.

The Hilltowns Community Resource Center is planning for the Easter holiday. We are in need of your support to help our families.

We are trying to provide an Easter dinner for our families. Donations of food for the meal or a complete meal would be a tremendous help.

On Monday, March 10, it was such a cold wintry day that I decided to spend my time making turkey soup. Tuesday, March 11, wasn’t much better. It was too cold to go anywhere so I did laundry. Wednesday, March 12, was another wintry day with four inches of snow falling through the day. Then, an ice storm struck.

The Fox Creek Market in the Berne hamlet closed this month for its own unique reasons, but it has done so before, emblematic of a cherished, social business in a rural town that is subject to the pressures of a sparse customer base.

Realtor Robert Smith says his niece bought property in Knox, where she has a towing business in the second district, only after the zoning administrator said they would be clear of the town's law.

KNOX — Cecelia Shafer gave cards and conversation — for any occasion and anyone dear — and didn’t expect anything in return.

Her blue eyes and smile greeted customers of The Altamont Supermarket, acquaintances at the Knox Volunteer Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary, or members of St. Lucy’s Church in Altamont.

On Monday, March 3, baby Zoey arrived at 7:30 a.m. for our day together. She loves my dogs. They are four year-old, Ginger and 15-month-old Reba. She could watch them all day. If I let them out to romp in the snow and sit by the window with Her, she is in her glory and could sit and watch for hours.
