On a very damp, raw day for April 7, the Old Men of the Mountain headed up the mountain to the Hilltown Café, in Rensselaerville to meet and eat.

After two years of no tax hike, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board is divided on how much to raise taxes next year.

WESTERLO — Dancing, stylish clothes, and slot machines were all part of Helene Rossner’s fun, but what she ultimately lived for was people, as a mother, grandmother, and wife, and as a nurse who finished her career surveying assisted-living facilities across the state.

Michelle Fusco, the leader of a Facebook group formed to raise awareness of the case, said she felt her group made a difference with its protests outside of court and presence in family court.

The Old Men of the Mountain met at the Home Front Café in Altamont on the last day of March 2015 and early in the morning it was not too pleasant.

After running the Medusa General Store where they perused its trinkets and treats as children, April Caprio and her husband, Jason, still have questions.

WESTERLO — After flipping his pickup truck in a residential driveway on Route 403, Thor M. Church ran from police and then knocked on a home’s door to get a ride before being arrested on March 26, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

Two sisters are battling together as one faces cancer; the community is invited to support the cause.

BERNE — Jean Elizabeth Goodfellow excelled in school and used her to nursing skills to look out for the needs of children.

She died on April 3, 2015, after a long illness. She was 89.
