Acting as Knox appeals officer for the state’s Freedom of Information law, Supervisor Vasilios Lefkaditis, as the law requires, released the name of the resident making a recent request for transfer-station videos.

Rensselaerville Republican Party Chairwoman Donna Kropp said that there is little interest in local politics on both sides of the aisle, leading to no Repubican candidates running for town council.

One woman found a variety of flower at the Berne Library’s “seed library” that she hadn’t been able to find anywhere else, said the library manager.

In the same meeting where Nathan Elble was elected Berne-Knox-Westerlo school board president, he voted to appoint his wife to a teaching position, a decision school staff backed, saying that she is the best of 100 candidates for the job.

The new school board president says communication is key.

Last month, the town board held lengthy closed-door discussions over amendments to the town highway workers’ union contract that were approved by the supervisor without town board knowledge. This month, three of the town board members, all Democrats, voted to censure the supervisor for approving the amendments without their knowledge as well decisions he had made without board approval.

SCHOHARIE COUNTY — Barbara Wolford, a devoted mother who loved farm life, died on Tuesday, July 16, in her Knox Road home in the town of Wright, under the loving care of her son, daughter-in-law, and hospice after a long illness. She was 86.

Thank goodness the Old Men of the Mountain had some really nice weather when they went to Pop’s Place in Preston Hollow on July 9.
