Nexamp has opened up applications for Hilltown residents, promising them discounts of up to 10 percent on their electricity costs for using energy generated by the controversial solar farms located on the old Shepard Farm resort property in Westerlo. 

Neighbors expressed empathy after hearing from the homeowner’s relatives, but remain concerned about their property values. 

Kate Wetherhead speaks to Voorheesville students

Kate Wetherhead, an actress who originated the roles of Kate and Chutney in the Broadway production of “Legally Blonde,” spoke to Voorheesville students on Wednesday. 

“The last time I talked to my sister we agreed the vultures are just waiting to pounce,” Herman Picard said.

Three minors in a separate U-Haul vehicle — stopped near Exit 24 of the Thruway — have now been arrested. Six minors in a U-Haul that crashed near St. Peter’s Hospital had already been arrested, and one more minor, who Troopers say fled from the crashed U-Haul, was also added to the list of arrests in the case. 

Lee Carman — who had been the lone Republican on the Guilderland Town Board — was ousted in November after serving four years. He will now join the Industrial Development Agency. 

The men said their pole is not even as tall as the 34 feet, 5 inches that will be the top of the Stewart’s cupola. A Stewart’s diagram shows the peak of the roof for the proposed building at 27 feet, 2 inches.

The CSEA, which represents non-instructional workers at the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District, won raises for its members with a 3-percent increase for the 2019-20 school year and a total increase of 18-percent by 2023. Workers who have been with the district for 15 years or longer get additional compensation. 

Robert Baron, the former Voorheesville girls’ varsity basketball coach, suffered a setback on Jan. 28 in his lawsuit against the school district.

Peter Hotaling

Peter Hotaling, who was Westerlo’s assessor for 19 years before the town replaced him with Garth Slocum, has filed an Article 78 proceeding against the town, requesting that he be reinstated with back pay and that the town reimburse him for medical costs he accrued after losing his insurance.
