In Knox, the town board struggled to approve minutes in a sometimes heated debate of when quotes were appropriate or not. Quotes from Supervisor Vasilios Lefkaditis and Councilwoman Amy Pokorny, who are running against one another for supervisor in the fall, were especially debated.

A second vote was taken at Knox’s town board meeting Tuesday night on establishing a second business district in the town. As at the July meeting, the vote failed with a tie of 2 to 2.

A Dog Day Celebration, held in the Knox town park on Saturday, July 22, brought together dog owners in Knox and surrounding areas to vaccinate and register their dogs, as well as participate in activities held by the town.

The Knox town park will be upgraded over the next few years, with a new playground that people with disabilities can use, to be put in with grant money from New York State.

The Knox Democratic caucus was tense as those nominated mostly by members of the party’s committee were pitted against a slate of nominees already on the Republican ballot. Republicans had earlier nominated a slate of candidates enrolled in various parties.

KNOX — The Knox Youth Council and the town of Knox invite area youth to participate in the 2017 Youth Soccer Program this fall. This is a fun program that helps build basic soccer skills and/or introduces soccer to new players. Youth age 3 through sixth grade will participate in soccer clinics and small-sided games.

KNOX — A Dog Day Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, rain or shine, at the Knox Town Park, behind the town hall, on the Berne-Altamont Road.

At a packed public hearing Tuesday night on a proposed business district at the intersection of routes 156 and 157, the Knox Town Board vote was tied 2 to 2, with one absent member, as the audience grew heated with the deliberation.

The Knox Planning Board ruled to deny an application for the construction of a solar array on property owned by Peter Young Housing last Thursday. Board members cited an inability to gather information for the board and neighbors of the property to review, as well as objections by neighbors to its construction.
