Setting up a system to easily certify home businesses that don’t disturb neighbors or the environment would benefit all.

A solar array proposed in Knox has drawn the ire of many Knox and Guilderland residents who live by the property located on Route 156 at the border of the two towns.

With only one business district that has no known businesses, the town of Knox grappled with the question of how to promote businesses that are not in zones for businesses.

The study is in part from Governor Andrew Cuomo’s plan to save money by consolidating municipal services, with the town of Knox also eyeing a merger of its own.

Supervisor Vasilios Lefkaditis continues to push for additional business districts in Knox as the board deals with the logistics of mapping out the three proposed districts and informing neighbors. Lefkaditis questioned the validity of the planning board’s recommendation against a new business district, calling members “a bunch of appointees.”

Planning chairman Robert Price says the current Knox garage is structurally sound and can be upgraded for $62,000 while building a new garage would be costly.

Civil discourse at Knox Town board meetings would yield solutions. The board should not pass up a $12,000 grant that would lead to a $100,000 grant.

Knox’s town board held a special meeting to host a tour of its facilities, highlighting items in need of repair — some simple and some not as much.

Knox is considering hiring an engineer, largely to review large solar projects.
