Guilderland High School

Athletes from three countries and many states converged on the Capital Region this week to compete in the 2017 JCC Maccabi Games, an Olympic-style competition for Jewish teenagers ages 13 to 16.

Senior leadership helped teams from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville this year. Some seniors led their teams to deep sectional runs or even to victory in sectional championships.

It was hot and humid at Union-Endicott High School in Endicott for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association outdoor track and field championships. Guilderland sent three individual competitors and one relay team last Friday and Saturday.

On Tuesday afternoon, Guilderland High School student Tara Pede signed her letter of intent to play sports in college.

It was a battle for the chance to play in the Class A sectional final between Shenendehowa and Guilderland last Friday at Shenendehowa High School.

It was another classic matchup between Shenendehowa and Guilderland girls’ lacrosse. This time, the two teams met up in the Class A sectional final last Thursday afternoon at Mohonasen High School.

On Thursday afternoon, the Guilderland Dutchmen girls' lacrosse team battled Shenendehowa for the Class A sectional final in the rain at Mohonasen High School. The Dutch made the sectional final 13-years straight and won the title 9-8 in overtime.

Last Saturday morning at Guilderland High School money was being raised for drug awareness. 

The Guilderland Dutch Unified basketball team took to the floor last Thursday afternoon in their first game at home against Mohonasen.

The weather mangled schedules for the Guilderland varsity baseball and softball teams this spring season. The Guilderland baseball team has played only two games, both wins, so the Dutchmen are 2-0 overall. The softball team has played three games and is 1-2 overall.
