Cold weather spawned hot competition last Thursday as Guilderland, 3-0 on the season, beat the Warriors at Averill Park, 7 to 2.

Getting off on the right foot: Both the Guilderland girls and Voorheesville boys won lacrosse games this week. The Dutch faced Columbia at home on Tuesday afternoon and won a barn burner, 14-to-12, while the Blackbirds, also at home, on Monday easily beat Cambridge, 11 to 6.

Even when temperatures plummeted, the athletes from Guilderland, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and Voorheesville made sure they brought the heat to their opponents in sectional and state competition this winter sports season.

Bowling pins were flying and bouncing off the side boards during the New York State Public High School Athletic Association bowling competition at Strike n’ Spare Lanes in Syracuse this past weekend.

Guilderland Players’ production of “Les Misérables” hits the stage at Guilderland High School March 14, 15, and 16, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m.

Guilderland and Guilderville athletes took to the bright lights and the big stage of state competition this past weekend in gymnastics, swimming, and track.

Guilderland’s co-ed cheerleading team looked to use its momentum from winning its fourth straight sectional title to try to win its first state title at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, Guilderland’s top indoor track athletes looked to punch their tickets to the state competition on Staten Island this Saturday. Isabella Bruno, Jordon Kimbrough, and Nick Soldevere qualified.

Last Thursday, the Guilderland Dutchmen girls' basketball opened up in the quarterfinals in the class AA sectional playoffs at Shenendehowa High School against Colonie. The Dutch fell 59-to-53.

Their cheers were loud during Saturday’s competition at Colonie High. The Dutch had won its fourth straight Section 2 title. The champions had a score of 86.05 out of 100 points. The team is coached by Jessalynn Crusado.
