The Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swim team, in the Section 2 championships at Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park on Friday and Saturday, looked to lock down more qualifications for the March 1 and 2 state competition.

In the 200-IM, Brkanovic also does the breaststroke where Brkanovic finished second in his heat with a time of 2:02.71. Then on Saturday in the “A” final, he finished fourth with a time of 2:00.65, qualifying for states in that event. He also qualified in the 100-yard backstroke.

Big breath: Guilderville's Joseph Gravino competes in the 100-yard freestyle. Gravino won his heat with a time of 47.99 then won the sectional title on Saturday with a time of 47.39. Gravino qualified for states in the 100-yard freestyle and the 50-yard freestyle.

Flying start: Guilderville's An Nguyen starts from the blocks for the 200-yard freestyle preliminary heat. Nguyen finished sixth with a time of 1:52.80. Then on Saturday, he finished 16th in the “B” final with a time of 1:53.84.
