Already qualified in the 200-yard individual medley, Helderberg Valley’s Abigael O’Donnell comes up to start the backstroke portion where she won her heat and finished second overall on Saturday with a time of 2:11.05. O’Donnell is also qualified in the 100-yard backstroke.

Swimming easily, Helderberg Valley’s Erin Johnson competes in the 500-yard freestyle event. Johnson finished eighth in her heat with a time of 6:22.83 then finished 10th overall on Saturday with a time of 6:12.37.

Rachel Lai starts the backstroke in the 200-yard medley relay on Friday. The relay team —Lai, Keaney, Brooke Sommo, and Ellie Lashway — finished third in their heat with a time of 1:52.77 then qualified for states on Saturday with a time of 1:51.95. Sommo also is qualified in the 100-yard butterfly.

Heading back to states, Guilderville’s Kasey Keaney performs the backstroke in the 200-yard individual medley on Friday. Keaney, second in her heat with a 2:10.03 finished, was fourth overall on Saturday with a time of 2:10.92, qualifying her for states. She also won the 100-yard breaststroke again, qualifying with a time of 1:07.11.

Head over heels: Guilderville’s Maddy Alteri performs a second-round dive in front of judges on Thursday afternoon. Alteri finished ninth with 407.10 points.

Flying crunch: Guilderville’s Emma Oertel performs a second-round dive during Thursday’s diving competition at Shenendehowa. Oertel finished 18th with 236.60 points.

Head first: Helderberg Valley’s Abigael O’Donnell springs from the board to start the 200-yard Individual Medley on Friday morning. O’Donnell won her heat with a time of 2:13.05 and finished second overall with a time of 2:11.05, qualifying her for state competition in the event.

Quick breath: Guilderville’s Kelly Keaney gets a breath of air as she competes in the 200-yard freestyle event in the Section 2 sectionals at Shenendehowa on Friday afternoon. Keaney finished eighth in her heat and 25th overall with a time of 2:10.52.
