The homeowner was found sitting at the side of the road in her nightgown, her only possession not destroyed in the fire that burned down her home on Nash Road in Knox, the fire chief said.

A Guilderland wrestling coach, his pregnant wife, infant son, and mother were displaced this weekend by a house fire on Vaughn Drive that firefighters had extinguished, but that rekindled about an hour after all the firefighters had left.

GUILDERLAND — Food burning in an apparently unattended wok on a stove caused heavy smoke at the Best Cook Chinese restaurant in Guilderland on Thursday morning, said Assistant Chief of the Guilderland Fire Department Bill Beha.   

No one in the restaurant when firefighters arrived, he said.  

A fire in Westerlo that destroyed a small home on Route 406 is likely due to electric space heaters that were used.

One apartment is “uninhabitable,” firefighters say, and residents of three others were being moved to temporary accommodations.

A Westerlo man welding in his garage led to an explosion, causing a house fire and hospitalizing the welder.

The fire decimated the barn and killed two pigs and their piglets.
