Good for Guilderland, keeping its town pool open, and planning to rebuild, after fire destroyed its pool house. Every time we write a story about a drowning, we see the need for public pools where kids can learn to swim.
We would like to take this opportunity to commend both the East Berne and Berne volunteer fire departments for their unbelievably quick response to a 911 call to a fire at our home.
A garage on Western Avenue now stands gutted, as the call for responders came as flames were shooting through the roof in the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 8.
When firefighters arrived to a house on fire Tuesday morning in New Scotland, there were already flames through the roof. A pond at Camp Pinnacle, about two miles away, was used for water.
