ALBANY COUNTY — A man who used a “MeetMe” app to lure a 14-year-old girl to the Days Inn in Guilderland was found guilty on Wednesday afternoon of second-degree rape and three counts of criminal sexual act — all felonies.

A 27-year-old Berne woman was hit, held down, and strangled by a Schoharie man and Tennessee woman at her home on Helderberg Trail on Friday, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

Randi Smith, former chief fiscal officer of the New York State Weatherization Directors Association, is headed to prison, as is her son, for stealing from the organization.

A Berne man has been arrested with over half a dozen charges related to abusing a child.

SLINGERLANDS — A Blessing Road homeowner was distracted by a fake repairman while his accomplice stole money from the house, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police Department.

The implementation of Raise the Age legislation means 16- and 17-year-olds will no longer be tried as adults. But should a young person deemed an “adolescent offender” be detained while awaiting trial, they may only be sent to one of eight facilities in the state.

A Rensselaerville man was charged for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl for several years as well as strangling her at least once in 2014 while living in the town of Westerlo, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

ALBANY COUNTY — On Friday morning, Brian E. Beloncik was sentenced to six years in state prison, to be followed by five years of post- release supervision for robbing a Guilderland house in April.

He appeared before Judge Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court on Oct. 19.

John E. McIntyre, who is on the state’s sex offender registry, was charged with additional crimes following his initial arrest last week in an investigation by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

A Berne man, who is already a registered sex offender, was arrested after texting and having inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old girl, police say.
