GUILDERLAND — The town of Guilderland was the only municipality in the Capital Region to make it onto an annual list, produced by a home-security company, of “50 Safest Cities in New York Report.”

BETHLEHEM — A traffic stop in Slingerlands has led to the arrest of George Piha, 50, for a string of thefts from lockers at the Bethlehem YMCA, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police who are investigating Piha’s ties to locker thefts across the state.

GUILDERLAND — Nearly four months after the Bank of America at 1450 Western Ave. was robbed, Ricky W. Hines, 40, of Gloversville, was charged with third-degree robbery.

GUILDERLAND — On July 9, Dennis Grant was interrupted by a homeowner and her children “as he was actively stealing property in their residence,” according to a release from the Guilderland Police Department.

ALBANY – Thomas Lagan, a financial advisor and lawyer who worked with former Guilderland town justice Richard Sherwood, was indicted by a grand jury for a scheme in which he and Sherwood plundered over $9 million from family trusts they were responsible for overseeing, according to an announcement on July 3 by New York Attorney General

GUILDERLAND — A minute before midnight on June 30, John Seminary of 3771 Western Turnpike in Guilderland fired a gun during the course of a domestic dispute in his home, according to a release from the Guilderland Police Department.

BETHLEHEM — An armed robbery took place at the Glenmont Dollar Tree, at 388 Feura Bush Road, at 8:29 p.m. on Sunday.

Scott Green who was fired by the town of Berne two years ago following a dispute over health insurance, was charged with harassment last month after apparently visiting town hall.
