After hearing from its accounting firm last week, the Rensselaerville Town Board decided to cautiously continue using the firm after state police charged the supervisor last month with writing checks to himself.

An 18-year-old male was arrested at his home in East Berne Sunday night after a 17-year-old female called police Friday to report being groped.

ALBANY COUNTY — Dennis Grant, 44, of Knox was sentenced on Friday to 12 years to life in state prison for second-degree attempted burglary, a violent felony — the fifth in a string of burglary-related convictions. At his sentencing, Grant was classified as a mandatory persistent felon.

Tod Mell received his $91,290 annual salary from the Guilderland School District from the time that he was placed on administrative leave in April 2018 until Dec. 27. His letter of resignation was accepted by the school board at its Dec. 18 meeting.

BETHLEHEM — On Dec. 19, the Bethlehem Police released pictures from store video surveillance of a man and a woman, known to frequent Stewart’s Shops in the area, suspected of credit-card theft.

Police say a 16-year-old girl fought free of a kidnapping, despite being hit in the face.

Police say the woman Franklin Hempstead attacked said she was thrown to the ground after he tried to argue with her.
