The Voorheesville Blackbirds flew to victory, beating Ichabod Crane, 60 to 47, on Friday evening as they spread their wings in a Colonial Council matchup at Ichabod Crane in Valatie.

The Guilderville boys looked to show their swimming abilities against Shenendehowa High School on Friday afternoon in hopes of qualifying for states. The team is made up of athletes from Guilderland and Voorheesville and competed at home, in the Voorheesville pool.

On Monday afternoon the Voorheesville Blackbirds bowling team traveled to Troy to take on Lansingburgh at Uncle Sam Lanes. The Blackbirds lost, 28 to 4 (3433 to 2229 total pins).

Track teams from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville, traveled to Springfield College in Massachusetts on Sunday to take part in the third annual Ed Cepiel Springfield Invite against 25 other teams.

The Voorheesville boys’ volleyball team traveled to Columbia-Greene Community College on Saturday to compete in the Holiday Tournament hosted by Ichabod Crane. The Blackbirds finished fifth out of eight teams, after going 5-5.

The Storm lived up to its name in a physical game on Friday, shutting out the Mohawks, 2 to 0, in the first Stick it to Cancer game at Union College. Each team is comprised of players from a number of high schools.

In a Colonial Council matchup Friday afternoon, the Voorheesville girls’ basketball team traveled to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School where the Blackbirds had a tough time against the Indians’ defense and fell, 69 to 39.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds kicked off the 2019-20 indoor track season on Saturday morning at Union College. The non-scoring event was a good start for the Birds to see what they were made of.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds boys’ soccer and girls’ volleyball teams went full bore this week. The soccer team on Saturday afternoon battled Lake George at Colonie High School for the section 2 Class C championship.

The Voorheesville boys and girls opened Class C sectional soccer play on the right foot last week. The boys, the top seed, faced off against Schoharie on Saturday in the quarterfinals while the girls, seeded second, played Berne-Knox-Westerlo, the 18th seed, on Friday afternoon.
