The Guilderville boys swimming, made up of Guilderland and Voorheesville students, took on Shaker Blue Bison in a Jan. 21 virtual swim meet. Guilderville won 95 to 75 and improved their record to 4-1.
On Tuesday afternoon at Town n' Country lanes in Guilderland, Voorheesville had a virtual match against Cobleskill-Richaondville, both teams bowl in their home lanes and send in scores due to the pandemic. The Blackbirds won 17.5 to 14.5.
Last Thursday, the Guilderville boys swimming team held a virtual match against Niskayuna. The combined team of Guilderland-Voorheesville won 94 to 88.
On Friday and Saturday, the Guilderville girls swimming team, made up of Guilderland-Voorheesville students, swam at Shenendehowa High School for the Suburban Council Championships. The team finished 5th overall with 216 points.
Guilderland-Voorheesville girls swim team under the helm of Jenna Hyary have started the shorten season 4-0 with all their meets virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Guilderville won both meets, 118-47 against Troy-Averill Park, and 102-81 against Schenectady-Colonie.
This past week, the Guilderland and Voorheesville Girls tennis squads returned to their home courts to face local foes. Voorheesville lost to Academy of the Holy Names on Friday evening 6 to 1 while Guilderland lost to Niskayuna 5 to 4.
The second season for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ and Voorheesville boys’ basketball teams started with a bang this week in the Section II, Class C bracket. The BKW girls opened on Saturday evening at home against Lake George and never looked back from the opening tip, winning 67 to 17.
Track athletes from Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo battled in their sectional championships — Division 1 for Guilderland and Division 4 for Voorheesville and BKW — at the University at Albany on Sunday.
