On Jan. 2, the Voorheesville Blackbirds indoor track team, coming off quarantine, showed their talents at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy in the Tri County Indoor Track League 5D meet. The girls team finished ninth with 14.50 points while the boys finished 12th with eight points.

On Thursday, Dec. 16, the Voorheesville Blackbirds bowling team hosted Catholic Central at Town n’ Country lanes in Guilderland. The pins weren’t nice to the Birds as they fell to the Crusaders 29 to 3 (2692 to 2198 in total pins).

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Guilderland-Mohonasen-Scotia/Glenville-Schalmont-Voorheesville Storm took on Niskayuna-Amsterdam-Schenectady-Albany Mohawks at Union College for a Stick it to Cancer event. From the opening face off the Storm led till the final buzzer and won 4 to 0.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Voorheesville Girls traveled to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk to face the Indians in the schools’ Hall of Fame game. Birds hung tough in the first half but the Indians’ defense stiffened and the Birds fell 50 to 37.

On Thursday, Dec. 9, the Voorheesville Boys volleyball team traveled to Cobleskill-Richmondville to face the Bulldogs. The Blackbirds dropped the first set and came back to take the next three and defeated Cobleskill-Richmondville 3 sets to 1; 17-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-21.

The Guilderville boys swim team held the first meet of its season Dec. 7. The pool’s temperature forced them to travel to Bethlehem High School. Guilderville fell 108 to 75.

The Voorheesville boys basketball team took to the court in their home opener and season opener against the LaSalle Cadets Dec. 3. LaSalle’s defense caused the Blackbirds to make mistakes and miss shots for a 69-to-43 loss.

On Saturday, Nov. 13, the Voorheesville Girls Cross-Country team competed in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s state competition at Chenango Valley State Park in Port Crane.

On Friday, Nov. 5, Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Middleburgh, Guilderland and Voorheesville cross-country teams competed in the Section 2 cross-country championships at Saratoga State Park. Voorheesville girls won Class C with 29 points while the boys finished fourth with 146.

On Saturday, Oct 30, the Voorheesville football team took to the gridiron at home to take on Cobleskill-Richmondville in the quarterfinals in the Section 2, Class C football championships.
