Two Clarksville residents were arrested at a State Police occupant-safety checkpoint, after the 3-year-old girl who was riding in the back of the car handed a trooper a pouch containing marijuana and related paraphernalia.

The anti-incumbent mood that has been tossing out 10-term Congressmen, has come to New Scotland and its Democratic committee.

NEW SCOTLAND — Route 157 near the Thacher Park Visitor Center and the Paint Mine Picnic Area in New Scotland will be closed from Sept. 10 until Nov. 27 as the New York State Department of Transportation replaces two culverts under the state road.

VOORHEESVILLE — John M. Bagyi has been named, for the 10th year in a row, to the 2018 Upstate New York Super Lawyers list in the field of Employment and Labor.

A 1989 graduate of Guilderland High School, Bagyi lives in Voorheesville with his wife, Dania, and their daughters, Kennedy and McKenna.

Getting off to a quick start in an eight-game season for Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Helderberg Valley is critical for a good position in sectionals. The season started on Friday night for the Dutch and on Saturday for Helderberg Valley and the Blackbirds.

With each passing year, fewer and fewer all-volunteer ambulance squads remain in the area, replaced with full-time paid employees.

A new club at Voorheesville Elementary School has joined the media landscape. Blackbirds on the Wing, a podcast club, recently posted its first episode titled, “The Nature of Fads.”

Albany County received millions in government funds to upgrade its communication system. Now volunteer fire departments worry how they’ll be able to pay for the required new radios.

Last Saturday, at Clayton A. Bouton High School, the second leg of the hilltown triple crown took place.
