BERNE — Lewis “George” Wisler died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at his Berne home surrounded by his family. He was 64.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1957 to Lewis and Joan (née Kelly) Wisler in La Mesa, California.

The Hilltown Seniors met on Saturday, Feb.12, with Karen Olenwick presiding over the meeting.  The reports were read and accepted as presented.

Nurse practitioner Jill Martin’s current medical office at 1772 Helderberg Trail is likely to be purchased by the Berne-Knox-Westerlo school district, which must first put the issue up for referendum. Martin is currently building a new office down the road.

KNOX — Robert H. Moons, an outdoorsman who grew his own garlic and made his own maple syrup, died on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, in Albany. He was 87.

He was the son of Adrian and Elizabeth (née Poling) Moons. His wife, Joyce Moons, died before him.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo Superintendent Timothy Mundell explained to the board of education last month that state Foundation Aid for the district was already maximized because of declining enrollment there, meaning BKW will make out less well in the 2022-23 than nearby districts like Guilderland — though a majority of the district’s funding is still aid-based.

Andrew R. Gibson, of Westerlo, was scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 1 for charges relating to a fatal DWI crash he caused last year, injuring two Berne-Knox-Westerlo students and killing their mother.
