A host community agreement is essentially financial padding on top of a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement, both of which are meant to incentivize municipalities to allow renewable energy companies to build projects despite the tax exemption programs put forth by New York State as part of its move away from non-sustainable energy sources.

The Basic Creek has been eroding the bank where it runs through the town park, eating up some of the parkland. Westerlo Supervisor Matthew Kryzak says there’s more that will need to be done, but the grant is a step in the right direction.

WESTERLO — “The Pilgrim’s Progress” is the theme for this summer’s Vacation Bible School at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo.
The school runs each day from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. from Aug. 15 to 19.

The church is located at 618 Route 143 in Westerlo.

The fire company will use the money to construct a new station on Helderberg Trail, where it already owns property.

WESTERLO — George R. “Robbie” Snyder, who loved snowmobiling and logging, ran the family excavating business and also farmed.

He died at home on Wednesday July 6, 2022. He was 70.

Paul Larrabee will attend Clarkson University and hopes to be a mechanical engineer.

Kimberly Howland is attending Rochester Institute of Technology to study video game design, and then hopes to find a job in game development in the Capital Region.
