Barbara Joan Martin, a longtime tax collector in Knox, was a hardworking woman, devoted to her family.

She died peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2015, in Lakeland, Florida where she and her husband had moved to enjoy their retirement. She was 75.

KNOX— Jean Marie Adam Forti never stopped giving.

As a young woman, she worked with troubled children at St. Catherine’s, and then with Senior Services of Albany. After her wedding, as she and her husband, Tony, raised their three children in Knox, she was a pillar of the community.

KNOX — Robert Francis Delaney worked in construction but built with more than boards and bricks; he built with trust and care as he led both Boy Scouts and volunteer firefighters.

On a wet, and rainy (is that really a word) Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Old Men of the Mountain met at Mrs.

The special election comes just a few months before a large general election but several years after stalled plans to fix a leaking roof and a weathered highway garage.

EAST BERNE — Mary Claire Bolton Liszanckie, a nurse and a mother of six, grandmother of 13, and great-grandmother of 17, died on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015. She was 90.

She “went home to be with the Lord,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She was ‘Mom’ and ‘Mrs. L’ to many over the years,” they also wrote. 

BERNE — Fred C. Wukits, a veteran who worked as a manufacturing engineer, was a deeply religious man who enjoyed flying and woodworking.

Formerly of Berne, he died peacefully in his home in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, after a long illness. He was 83.
