For our Girl Scout Silver Award project we, with Mr. Al Gaige’s assistance, built two bookshelves for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo pre-kindergarten students. We did this so that the children could learn how to read, as well as enjoy reading by the time they enter kindergarten.

On Monday, Feb. 9, it snowed all day. We ended up with 14-inches of snow.

The Helderberg Hilltowns Association has a remedy for your wintertime blahs: pick-your-own blueberries, fresh tomatoes and basil, or handcrafted rustic bread. It’s CSA (community supported agriculture) season, a time to support local agriculture by buying a share in a farm’s food production.

WESTERLO — Jean Frances Britton was a resolute woman who took her family on camping trips with the same regularity and determination she used learning to negotiate the pedals of farm machinery and church organs.

BERNE — Thoroughly dedicated to his family, Donald Emil Moser was happy to come home from his travels and be at baseball games to watch his son.

Mr. Moser died on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. He was 80.

Mr. Moser was born in Schenectady on May 2, 1934, to the late Emil and Teresa Moser.
