Tuesday, July 18, and the summer (and some say, “What summer?”) is flying by.

A tribute was held Saturday, July 22, at the Berne town park for Phyllis Johnson. Many heroic and humorous stories were shared about Phyllis and her feline family.

A Dog Day Celebration, held in the Knox town park on Saturday, July 22, brought together dog owners in Knox and surrounding areas to vaccinate and register their dogs, as well as participate in activities held by the town.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Board of Education reviewed a draft of board goals compiled from ideas discussed with community members at a reorganizational meeting of the board.

The Knox town park will be upgraded over the next few years, with a new playground that people with disabilities can use, to be put in with grant money from New York State.

The Knox Democratic caucus was tense as those nominated mostly by members of the party’s committee were pitted against a slate of nominees already on the Republican ballot. Republicans had earlier nominated a slate of candidates enrolled in various parties.

Both Republicans and Democrats nominated a full slate of candidates, including for town supervisor, highway superintendent, and two seats on the town board.
