Our 60-plus members jammed the senior center eager to be entertained and to have a good lunch. They were not disappointed.

On a rather chilly day for the month of May, the ninth, the Old Men of the Mountain met at the Duanesburg Diner in Duanesburg.

In Knox, a proposed solar array was debated again at a second public hearing held by the town’s planning board, with many against it due to concerns about construction, the viewshed, and wildlife.

The $23 million district budget, with 0.5 percent reduction in the tax levy, passed with over three-quarters of voters supporting it.

In Berne, over 50 animals were taken from an animal rescue operation after owner Linda Mellin, 45, of Berne, was charged Wednesday with animal cruelty charges.

On a chilly and windy last Thursday, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs baseball team took on Fonda-Fultonville at home in a Western Athletic Conference battle. The Bulldogs had a lead going into the fifth inning, which saw the Braves come all the way back and win, 11 to 10.

The Memorial Day Parade in Berne will have veterans and active-duty military members marching or riding in the parade for the first time this year. One veteran who will be partaking helped bring the parade to fruition during its first year.

A member of the gallery accused the planning board chairwoman of a conflict of interest by expressing a desire for cell service, and threatened a legal battle should the tower be approved.

Although elections are half-a-year away, two candidates have announced they are running for Knox town supervisor: Vasilios Lefkaditis, the current supervisor, and Amy Pokorny, a town councilwoman.

On May 2,  the Old Men of the Mountain met at the Your Way Café in Schoharie.
