DELMAR — The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, preparing for its 38th annual awards celebration, is accepting nominations for a business, businessperson, youth, or organization in these categories: Lifetime Achievement Award; Chamber Business or Business Person of the Year; Community Spirit Award; and/or Young Entrepreneur Award.

BETHLEHEM — Tuesday’s fire that destroyed two Equinox apartment buildings was started with a Delmar man smoking a joint in the nearby courtyard, according to a Friday release from Bethlehem Police.

BETHLEHEM — Two apartment buildings, at 9 Equinox Court in Delmar, caught fire on Tuesday night; all of the occupants escaped without injury.

SELKIRK — Three people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after a plane crashed at the South Albany Airport, according to a Thursday evening release from the Bethlehem Police.

BETHLEHEM — Two cars crashed on Thursday afternoon and both drivers were taken to the hospital, according to a May 11 release from the Bethlehem Police.

Police reported on Monday that the driver of one of the cars, a 17-year-old male from Colonie, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

BETHLEHEM — A driver who crossed the center line on River Road, causing a fatal crash, is being charged with failing to keep right and unlicensed operation, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police.

The Wednesday release said events unfolded this way:

BETHLEHEM — Two men who targeted Hannaford Supermarkets to shoplift crashed their car in Rensselaer after police chased them from a Hannaford in Delmar, according to a release from Bethlehem Police.

The goal is to attract more homeowner residents to join and remain in the town’s volunteer emergency services, and to help make home ownership more affordable for younger volunteers who want to remain in Bethlehem.

BETHLEHEM — While the family that lived at 15 Hidden Hollow Road was not home on Wednesday when the house caught fire, their pets were.

“Once the fire was extinguished it was learned that 6 dogs, 4 cats, and 2 ferrets had been inside the residence and succumbed to fire,” the Bethlehem Police said in a Feb. 1 release.
