Bethlehem Grange is involved in many good works

To the Editor:

The Bethlehem Grange is holding a Chicken Barbecue Dinner on Thursday, May 4, with serving from 3 to 6 p.m., at our Grange Hall located at 24 Bridge St. in Selkirk. The dinner will include a half-chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll and butter, and dessert for $14.

Dinners are take-out only. To reserve your dinner, call me, Carol Carpenter, at 518-421-1384, no later than Wednesday May 3. Please make sure your phone number is displayed, for a confirmation call back.

Please remember to drop off your recyclable bottles and cans in our bin, located behind our Grange Hall.  If you need to have your bottles and cans picked up, please call Charles Ryan at 518-227-8954.  All proceeds are going toward the maintenance of our historic Grange Hall, which is on the National Register of Historic Sites.

Please also save the pull tabs from the cans and drop them off at the same time. The pull tabs are then  donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

We also collect your old used eyeglasses and hearing aids, which are then passed on to the Lions Club.

Bethlehem Grange 137 is also a Charter member of Stars 4 Our Troops. We have a mailbox in the front of our hall for your easy drop-off, available 24/7, of your worn and tattered American flags.

We also are a food collection center for several local pantries. Please call Jackie Schrom at 518-810-6031 to arrange a drop-off time for your new food items. Please remember that we do not have any dry protected area to just leave your food donations.

Bethlehem Grange 137 has a clothing shed in the southeast corner of our parking lot. We accept items, 24/7, including linens; curtains; stuffed animals; men’s, ladies’ and children’s clothing; shoes; belts; and purses. Our items are repurposed for local use whenever possible.

We will begin accepting donations for our annual June garage sales after May 21.

Thank you for helping us to help others!

Carol Carpenter
