Arrest follows fatal crash
BETHLEHEM — A driver who crossed the center line on River Road, causing a fatal crash, is being charged with failing to keep right and unlicensed operation, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police.
The Wednesday release said events unfolded this way:
On Tuesday evening, March 28, Kim L. Kawai, 63, of Cohoes was driving north on River Road when she crossed over the center line, colliding head-on with a car driven by Suzette M. Langworthy, 59, of Selkirk.
Dennis M. Charland, 66, also of Selkirk, was a front-seat passenger in Langworthy’s car. He died from his injuries at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Langworthy was admitted to Albany Med for further treatment while Kawai was treated and released.
Assisting with the incident were the Selkirk Fire Department, Albany County Paramedics, Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, the Albany County Crash Investigation Team, and the New York State Department of Transportation.
