KNOX — A rough-cut screening of a new documentary about the Anti-Rent Rebellion will be shown at the Octagon Barn in Knox on Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event is free and families with school-aged children are being encouraged to attend.

Last week, the interim superintendent made the decision that that long-time boys’ varsity basketball coach, Andy Wright, would not be coaching this year. That decision was made without any discussion with Athletic Director Tom Galvin.

Here we go again, as the state has a loose-change, scratch-off ticket that is exactly what I believe it is giving the Hilltowns by its refacing State Route 85.

The dismissal of Berne-Knox-Westerlo varsity basketball Coach Andy Wright is on the agenda for Monday night's school board meeting; petitions supporting him are currently circulating while parents who fear retaliation are remaining silent.

Winning 11 straight league games, and giving up only five goals over that time, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo soccer team is rolling deep.

The BKW girls' soccer team may be smaller and younger than opponents, but the team has a lot of heart, says the coach.

Lieutenant Nathan Stempel, a native of East Berne and graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, has just completed a three-year tour of service aboard the USS Louisville (SSN-724).

The USS Louisville is a nuclear-powered Los Angeles class fast-attack submarine.

BERNE — At the end of its July 15 meeting, the school board used colorful markers and shiny stickers to determine its priorities and goals for the year: settle contracts, improve academic scores, differentiate instruction, reduce bullying, create budget timelines, and promote positive news.
