Calling all artists, writers, and poets!
Each of us is experiencing the pandemic in our own way.
At the Westerlo Library, we would like to invite the community to participate in a “living history through art” project. We will provide each individual with one (or more) paper plate to decorate so that it reflects your experience with and feelings about the pandemic.
Participants are welcome to draw, paint, write poetry or a narrative, or produce a collage or a similar art form. The plates will be assembled into a globe (or globes) and displayed at the library once we are able to reopen fully.
After they are displayed, the globe will be deconstructed and the art will be preserved as part of a historical collection. You may pick your plate in the foyer of the library during regular hours, and place your completed work in the labeled box in the foyer during regular hours.

Frostee is the Jersey calf “adopted” by the Westerlo Library. She weighed 55 pounds when she was born on Oct. 4, 2020. Young library patrons are encouraged to send Frostee drawings or to write letters asking questions about her, which Nate the farmer will answer.
The Westerlo Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Powarzynski to serve as the library’s new manager. Patrons of the library already know Amy for her many years of outstanding service at the circulation desk and as library assistant for digital services.
As a longtime resident of Westerlo, Amy’s familiarity with the needs of the community together with her library knowledge and experience ensure her successful stewardship of the Westerlo Public Library for years to come. We welcome Amy to her new position and look forward to working with her!
4-H Virtual
Exploratory Series:
The Hilltown Libraries are presenting a fun, interactive virtual experience in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County! Each Wednesday in February, youth ages 6 to 12 will have the option to work with a 4-H educator via Zoom to complete a 4-H project on topics ranging from agriculture education, animal science, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) to creative arts.
If anyone is unable to join the Zoom, the kit will include a detailed set of instructions with the education behind each of the activities. All of the necessary supplies to complete each activity are included in a free kit that will be available for pick-up from the library prior to the start of the series.
