Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, February 10, 2021
The Westerlo Library is currently doing porch pick-up service only. Call us during regular library hours to schedule a porch pick-up of your reserved and requested items.
We have current issues of magazines. Call 518-797-3415 and ask for what you need. Library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 2 to 7 p.m., and Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pandemic Globe Project
Each of us is experiencing the pandemic in our own way.
At the Westerlo Library, we would like to invite the community to participate in a “living history through art” project. We will provide each individual with one or more paper plates to decorate so that it reflects your experience with and feelings about the pandemic.
Participants are welcome to draw, paint, write poetry or a narrative, or produce a collage or a similar art form. The plates will be assembled into a globe (or globes) and displayed at the library once we are able to reopen fully.
After they are displayed, the globe will be deconstructed and the art will be preserved as part of a historical collection. You may pick your plate in the foyer of the library during regular hours, and place your completed work in the labeled box in the foyer during regular hours.
Please call 518-797-3415 with any questions or to arrange to pick up your plate.
Thank you for participating!
STEAM Kits
We have free STEAM take and make kits available at our library. February’s theme is “Forces of Nature: Water” — there are new kits available weekly.
Virtual exploration
In February the Hilltown Libraries, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County, will present a 4-H Virtual Exploratory Series. A weekly Zoom session will be available (but not necessary for participation) and project kits will be available for pickup at the libraries. Please see our Facebook page for additional information.
All programs and kits are free unless otherwise noted.
Spice Club
The spice for February is coriander. Pick up a sample of coriander and three suggested recipes in the library vestibule during regular library hours.
Share your opinion on the recipes by dropping a note in the book-drop, emailing , commenting on the Westerlo Library Facebook page, or joining our GoToMeeting on Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. using the link on the library website (click on Adult Programs).
Special collections
We have recently added new material to our collections. We’ll share information on our new material here as well as through our website and Facebook. In the meantime, since we are currently providing curbside service only, if you are looking for a particular book or DVD, call the library at 518-797-3415 to see if we have it available.
