Story time

On Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 10:45 a.m. get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Watercolor

On Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 1 to 2 p.m. join us for Watercolor Expressions with Joanne Resch.  Nurture your creative spirit in this class. Beginning adults are welcome. Registration is required.

Concert

On Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. come enjoy Emma's Revolution a duo of award-winning activist musicians, Pat Humphries & Sandy O. Their songs have been sung for the Dalai Lama, praised by Pete Seeger, and brought their uprising of truth, hope, and a dash of irreverence to thousands of concerts and activist events across the United States and abroad.  Suggested donation is $10. Filmmaking

On Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. join us for Lights, Camera, Action! Conversations About Regional Filmmaking. Regional film producer, Audrey Kupferberg will discuss the key ingredients to making a film for distribution. The program will include the screening of a short film written and directed by local filmmaker John McCarty. This series is presented by the Mohawk Valley Library System and participating member libraries. Registration is required.

On Monday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m., join us for the Lego block party. We'll participate in a number of timed challenges from 15 minutes down to 1 minute and test your engineering skills. Everyone's a winner, but the builder of the best structure in each category will get to choose a prize from the prize basket. This program is appropriate for kids going into sixth grade and up. Winnie the Pooh party

Puppet People

Create

On Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. enjoy Gizmos, Gadgets and Games. These  are little bits of color coded electronic circuits that you can use to create crazy contraptions.  This program  is appropriate for kids going into second grade and up. Registration is required.

Sushi bar and Anime film

On Thursday, Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. come and give vegetarian sushi a try. We'll watch the anime film “Steamboy,” rated PG-13. Everyone will go home with a set of chopsticks! This program is appropriate for kids going into sixth grade and up. Registration is required.

Garage sale

On Saturday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m.  join us for the Middleburgh community garage sale. The library has 25 spaces available on the grass behind the library. No electric and bring your own canopy. Spaces are $10.  To reserve your space, stop in at the library and sign up at the circulation desk.

Learn about health, nutrition, and the human body with our friend, Stuffee, a seven-foot doll created by The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Experiments for kids

On Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. explore the state of matter and sublimation using experiments with dry ice.  This program is taught by educators from the MiSci Museum and is appropriate for kids going into grade six and up. Registration is required.

Escape the Room

On Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. come to the library where players are locked in a room and must uncover clues and hidden objects to escape. Spend an afternoon working with your peers to unravel the mystery of the Stargazer's Manor and save a well-known astronomer by finding clues and solving puzzles. Refreshments will be served. This program is appropriate for kids going into sixth grade and up. Registration is required.

Tea party

On Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m. join us for the mother-daughter American Girl tea party. Bring your dolls (It does not have to be an American Girl Doll) and your mom to the library where we'll talk about what it was like to be a girl in 1904. You'll make a Victorian craft and a calling card to bring to the Best House where we'll have our tea party.  Each girl will go home with a goodie bag. For kids going into grades two through six. Registration is required.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. Kim and Reggie Harris traditional folk performers will join us at the library with their unique ability to entertain audiences of any age and background as they blend their talents as singers, songwriters, educators, interpreters of history, and cultural advocates.

On Thursday, Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. come to the library and build with Legos.  We'll be digging into our giant tubs of Legos to compete in some fun building competitions. This program is appropriate for kids going into first grade and up. Registration is required.

On Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m. join author Connie Spanhake as she reads from her picture book “Sammy & the Bully.”  Children will have the opportunity to speak with the author about bullying, do an art project, and color an anti-bullying book mark. What's the Scoop?

On Monday, July 25 at 2 p.m. be part of a program presented by educators from the Scotia Glenville Traveling Museum. Kids will learn all about the chemistry of making ice cream, then we'll make some, and eat it. This program is appropriate for all ages. Registration is required.

History of board games

On Wednesday, July 27 at 1 p.m. learn about the cultural impact and how current events created certain games, from the Mansion of Happiness to Monopoly. Finally, you will have the opportunity to create your own board game to play.  Registration is required.  This program is appropriate for kids going into grades two through five.

History of electronic games

On Wednesday, July 27 at 3 p.m. dive into the world of Pacman and Donkey Kong. Registration is required. This program is appropriate for kids going into grade six and above.

On Monday, July 18 at 2 p.m. our Performing 101 is a workshop aimed at assisting potential performers with the skills needed to take the stage with confidence. All types of musicians are welcome, as well as poets, public speakers,  and actors. This program is appropriate for kids going into grade six and up. Registration is required.

Tour

On Tuesday, July 19 at 1 p.m. join us for an amazing Best House tour and muddy jar craft. Discover the Dr. Best House Medical Museum. Step back into time and take a tour of a 19th Century medical office. This program is appropriate for children in grades three and up. Registration is required.

Registrants are asked to bring small objects to attach to their jar. Some examples are:  buttons, shells, beads, small toys and figurines, broken jewelry, and tiny found objects.

On Thursday, July 7 at 3:30 p.m., let's test our bubble making skills. Can we add ingredients to make our bubbles bigger and more amazing? Perhaps have a contest of biggest bubble? Or we could just hangout and make bubbles together while enjoying some bubbly flavored seltzer and snacks.
