Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, September 9, 2016

Yesteryear-Yesterday — With the wonderful rebuilding in Middleburgh, the library’s history room is starting a display of how things were. You may have relics of various types that signify the past; used by your grandparents, or a former area business and of course, local pictures. All donors will be acknowledged and items returned.

Board meets

On Monday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. the board of trustees will meet. These meetings are open to the public. Please join us.

Story time

On Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 10:45 a.m. get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

 Insight meditation

On Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 5:15 p.m. join us for a simple group Zazen meditation practice.  All are welcome.  No registration is required.

Chair yoga

On Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. join us for chair yoga with Vicki DeGroff. Donation for the class is $5. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Please use back entrance.

Discovery Wednesdays

On Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 11a.m. our Discovery Wednesdays program will take place. Registration is required.

Watercolor

On Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 1 to 2 p.m. join us for Watercolor Expressions with Joanne Resch.  Nurture your creative spirit in this class. Beginning adults are welcome. Registration is required.

This program series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. Sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Library System and participating member libraries. All programs are free. Materials will be provided. Participating libraries are accessible for people with disabilities.

  Knitting Circle

On Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m., the  friendly ladies (men are welcome, but we haven't seen any yet!) knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.  

Concert

On Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. come enjoy Emma's Revolution a duo of award-winning activist musicians, Pat Humphries & Sandy O. Their songs have been sung for the Dalai Lama, praised by Pete Seeger, and brought their uprising of truth, hope, and a dash of irreverence to thousands of concerts and activist events across the United States and abroad.  Suggested donation is $10. Please use the back entrance.

Filmmaking

On Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. join us for Lights, Camera, Action! Conversations About Regional Filmmaking. Regional film producer, Audrey Kupferberg will discuss the key ingredients to making a film for distribution. The program will include the screening of a short film written and directed by local filmmaker John McCarty. This series is presented by the Mohawk Valley Library System and participating member libraries. Registration is required.
