Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, July 29, 2016
On Monday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. join us for the ultimate Harry Potter book release party. The new book , “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is being released on July 31, and we're celebrating. This program is appropriate for kids going into grade one and up. Please register online, in the library or by phone at 827-5142. Pick up your ticket for the Hogwarts Express at the circulation desk. Registration is required.
Story time
On Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 10:45 a.m. have fun with story time. This fun and interactive program is meant for children up to age 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome. We read books, sing songs, play games, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.
Teen meditation
On Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. we are offering Introduction to Meditation for Teens. Join our meditation expert, Jack King as he teaches you about the practice and takes you on a guided meditation. This program is for kids going into grade six and up.
Mahjong
On Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. men and women are invited to the library for a spirited group of people get together in the community room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem. They will teach you how. No registration is required.
Insight meditation
On Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 5:15 p.m. join us for a simple group Zazen meditation practice. All are welcome. No registration is required.
Author visit
On Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m. join author Connie Spanhake as she reads from her picture book “Sammy & the Bully.” Children will have the opportunity to speak with the author about bullying, do an art project, and color an anti-bullying book mark. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. This program is appropriate for kids going into kindergarten through grade five. Registration is required.
Game night
On Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., join us for teen game night. Hang out with us and play some games on the XBOX 360 or board games. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided. This program is appropriate for kids going into sixth grade and up. Registration is required.
Knitting circle
On Thursday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. the friendly ladies (men are welcome, but we haven't seen any yet!) knit and crochet, embroider, and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.
Adult board games
On Saturday, Aug. 6 from 2 to 10 p.m., join us for some gaming fun. Maybe you will play a game you have never seen before. Registration is suggested.
