BERNE — The town will host the second annual Harvest Festival at Switzkill Farm on Saturday, Oct. 15. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

NEW SCOTLAND — The First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville is once again hosting a free community lunch on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

The next lunch will be on Tuesday, Sept 27, from noon to 1 p.m., eat-in only.

KNOX — Since the Northeastern Cave Conservancy Inc. became the stewards of Knox Cave in 1978, thousands of people have been able to safely enjoy and study the cave.

GUILDERLAND — The Traffic Safety Awareness Show is set for this weekend, Sept. 24 and 25, at Crossgates Mall during normal mall hours.  A check to see if child safety seats are properly installed will run on Saturday only in the overflow lot on the Western Avenue side of the mall parking lot from 11a.m. 2 p.m.

Village Historian Dennis Sullivan hopes to teach others about Thomas Merton during a session at the Voorheesville library, basing his talk on a treatise he wrote on the Trappist monk’s life, writing, and philosophy.

BERNE — Did you know that the wonders of the natural world are right at your doorstep? This autumn, Switzkill Farm (formerly known as Game Farm) in Berne is offering three programs to better acquaint you with some activities that you may not have yet tried.

BETHLEHEM — The Albany Figure Skating Club offers a fall Learn to Skate program, providing basic skills and hockey skating instruction for skaters of all ages, abilities, and interests.  This program is a fun, safe way to learn to skate or to improve skating skills.

GUILDERLAND — Guilderhaven will be at the town’s hazardous waste and shredding day on Sept. 17 collecting food, blankets, and towels from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County 4-H is now offering a Theatre Arts 4-H Club for youth ages 9 to 12.

Club members will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the cooperative extension building at 24 Martin Rd. in Voorheesville on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning on Oct. 11.

RENSSELAERVILLE — The Rensselaerville Presbyterian Church will celebrate the 220th anniversary of its first worship with a special service on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. in the church.

RENSSELASERVILLE — The Grist Mill Museum in the hamlet of Rensselaerville will be closed for the winter, from mid-October until mid-May, because there is no heat in the mill.
