4-H Club explores theater arts

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County 4-H is now offering a Theatre Arts 4-H Club for youth ages 9 to 12.

Club members will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the cooperative extension building at 24 Martin Rd. in Voorheesville on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning on Oct. 11.

Following the Theatre Arts 4-H curriculum designed by Virginia Tech University and Rutgers University, meetings we will explore the “big ideas” of theatre arts including, communication, character development, play and scriptwriting, and theatrical production. Imaginative discovery is the goal, not a formal staged production of a play. No prior drama or theater experience is necessary.

The club will be led by Maria DeLucia-Evans, a CCE educator who holds an master of arts degree in creative writing, with a playwriting focus, and who has a strong background in theatre arts.

Advanced registration is required. Those who are interested should contact DeLucia-Evans at or (518) 765-3559 to register. Registrations are limited.  Registration is free to current 4-H members, and $10 for new members.
