As Western Turnpike Rescue Squad closes its doors, its operations taken over by the town of Guilderland, the Altamont Rescue Squad looks to the future.

The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Nov. 26. Call the senior office at 518-280-7607 with any questions or for information.

The Guilderville swim team — made up of girls from Guilderland and Voorheesville — competed last weekend at the state competition at Ithaca College in Ithaca.

On Monday afternoon, 7 Guilderland High School seniors signed their letter of intent to play colligate sports next year.

Colorful costumes and traditional dance were part of the Diwali celebration on Nov. 3 as Indian Americans gathered at the Guilderland YMCA. The autumn festival of lights symbolizes the victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

Developers treat town plans as obstacles. Town boards must treat them as contracts.

GUILDERLAND — The town is ending its relationship with Mallozzi’s, the long-time food-and-beverage vendor at the town-owned Western Turnpike Golf Course.

Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber told the town board on Nov. 8 that the goal is to have a new vendor in place by the start of the next golf season.

GUILDERLAND — The citizens’ group Historic Altamont Inc. wrote a letter this week to Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber and Altamont Mayor Kerry Dineen advising them that it would no longer seek ownership of the historic Doctor Crounse House, at the gateway to the village.

Enterprise Consulting Services is once again looking to install a cell tower in Altamont. In 2013, the company had the same proposal for the same for the same site, on Agawam Lane.
