Guilderville Boys Swimming

The Guilderland-Voorheesville and Bethlehem swimming teams made a splash in the Section 2 swimming and diving sectional championships at Shenendehowa High School last week. The Eagles won their first sectional championship since 2001, Guilderville finished sixth.

On Friday, Dec. 12, the Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swimming team hosted Albany at Clayton A. Bouton High School that saw Guilderville bring the heat as they won easily 94 to 61.

On Friday, March 7, Guilderville’s Isak Brkanovic and Bethlehem’s Owen Lilly took to the pool at Ithaca College for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s championships. Brkanovic competed in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and Lilly in the 100-meter butterfly.

Last Thursday, Jan. 30, the Guilderland-Voorheesville swim team hosted its Senior Night as the swimmers thanked their four seniors as the team took on Ballston Spa. Guilderville dominated from the first event, winning, 92 to 79. Isak Brkanovic broke the 200-yard freestyle pool record.

Last Thursday, Dec. 12, the Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swim team competed against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk and Mohonasen at home. Guilderville dominated in the pool where they won against both RCS 54-to-43 and Mohonasen 61-to-16.

On the weekend of March 1, the Guilderville boys’ swim team traveled to Ithaca College for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association swim and dive championships. Guilderville tied for 14th in the state with only four swimmers.

On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swim team held their senior night honoring their four seniors. From the first race till the last, the Guilderville boys broke four pool records (all three relays and Isak Brkanovic in the 50 free) in their 100-81 win.

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, the Guilderland-Voorheesville swim team took on Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. The team won 94 to 76 and Isak Brkanovic qualified for states in the 50-yard freestyle.

On March 3 and 4, the Guilderville boys’ swim team took on 433 state-wide swimmers at Ithaca College for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association swimming championships.

On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 and 18, the Guilderville boys’ swim team competed in the Section 2 swimming championships at Shenendehowa High School. The team finished fifth overall with 253.5 points and qualified three individual swimmers and two relay teams for states.
