Photos: Guilderville Makes Big Splashes

Last Thursday, Dec. 12, the Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swim team competed against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk and Mohonasen at home. Guilderville dominated in the pool where they won against both RCS 54-to-43 and Mohonasen 61-to-16.

Spreading his wings: Guilderville’s Hayden Heckler flies across the top of the water as he swims the butterfly portion in the 200-yard individual medley. Heckler finished fourth with a time of 2:34.13.

Ready for splash down: Guilderville’s Matthew Kowalski leaps from the starting block as he heads into the water to compete in the 50-yard freestyle. Kowalski finished second with a time of 27.22 seconds.

Flipping good time: Guilderville’s Kiernan Wendling performs a flip during his first diving attempt. Wendling won with a score of 174.15.

Making waves: Guilderville’s Demetrio Schiavone glides along the water as he swats it behind him as he competes in the 100-yard butterfly. Schiavone finished in third with a time of 1:06.55.

Hey there: Guilderville’s Caleb Doney turns his head for some air as he approaches the wall in his first lap in the 100-yard freestyle. Doney finished in third with a time of 1:01.40.

Human torpedo: Guilderville’s Isak Brkanovic gets a breath of air as he completes one of many laps in the 500-yard freestyle. Brkanovic won with a time of 5:11.87 and has qualified in the 50-free, 100-free, and 100 breaststroke events.
