Photos: Guilderville Makes Big Splashes At States

On March 3 and 4, the Guilderville boys’ swim team took on 433 state-wide swimmers at Ithaca College for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association swimming championships.

On the bed of water: Guilderville’s Vicent Coppola heads down his lane while getting a breath in the preliminary heat in the 200-yard freestyle. On Friday, Coppola finished 16th overall (1:44.39) then came back Saturday to finish 20th in the state with a time of 1:46.28.

Off and flying: Guilderville’s Eric Ryan swats the water away in the 100-yard butterfly. Ryan finished 13th overall (51.50 seconds) on Friday then came back Saturday to finish 15th in the state with a time of 51.74 seconds.

Battle in the pool: Guilderville’s Vincent Coppola swats the water as he competes right near Ethan Miao of Levittown-Meadow in Friday's preliminary heat. Coppola finished 27th overall (48.12 seconds) then came back on Saturday to finish 26th in the state with a 48.04 seconds.

Flying to a top ten: Guilderville’s Isak Brkanovic leaps far from the starting board in the 200-yard freestyle relay. On Friday the relay team finished 10th overall (1:28.01) then on Saturday finished 10th in the state with a time of 1:27.94.
